We write to residents, feature articles in local magazines/parish newsletters, visit residents in hot spot blockage areas and provide a range of free items and useful prompts in the home to support behaviour change to make it easy to act to prevent blockages. These items include sink strainers, gunk pots, plate scrapers, toilet paper spray, 3Ps toilet roll and fat, oil and grease messaging on kitchen rolls.
We co-fund officers within local community voluntary services organisations to work on the Keep it Clear programme. This partnership approach enhances the volunteer experience for local people who have the opportunity to expand on social, communication and workplace skills.
The programme is currently targeting 24 identified blockage hot spot areas across the region.
In 2014 Keep it Clear won a national award for recognition of its work on customer engagement in this way from BITC, Business In The Community.
In 2018 Keep it Clear won the Best Campaign category in the Institute of Internal Communications (IOIC) awards, working with our partner design company Red Publications.

What can you do?
Easy. Just put all your unflushable waste in the bin or and recycle oil and food waste in your doorstep food caddy collection, or home composting, or bin it. Small changes in the kitchen and bathroom make a big difference.
