Why Keep It Clear
Keep It Clear is Anglian Water’s pioneering, transformational behaviour change programme tackling pollution and flooding caused by avoidable sewer blockages.
Just a few of our community events
The Keep it Clear programme, launched in 2011, has inspired and enabled communities to engage with the issue of blocked pipes and make a real difference.
We use local, trusted and known ‘voices’ within the community to spread awareness of our Keep it Clear programme.
We’re always out and about in the community sharing interesting stories, why not follow us socially and stay connected.
Ever wondered what happens to everything flushed down the toilet? At our Whitlingham Water Recycling Centre in Norwich they clear around 8-9 tonnes of unflushable items to landfill every week! #Unblocktober 💩🚽 https://t.co/1OjDns7QHF
All month we've been supoprting Unblocktober to raise awareness about the serious problems unflushables can cause in the sewer network. Last week we spoke to Stuart, assistant manager at Whitlingham Water Recycling Centre just outside Norwich. Unflushable items such as wet-wipes, sanitary products, cotton buds, dental floss etc. make their way to the site where they block machinary and can take hours every day to manually clear. The unflushable items end up in the skip and can't be recycled which means that eight or nine tonnes head to landfill every week, just from this one site.
Please only flush poo, pee and toilet paper! 💩🚽
Are you feeling autumnal yet? Our Taverham Mill Nature Reserve just outside Norwich will definitely get you in the mood for autumn 🍂 As the leaves transition from green to gold it’s the perfect time to see the seasonal colours reflected across the lake. We love this shot taken by site Ranger Malcom of fly agaric fungi on the bank.
