Used cooking oil bank scheme

Working with Norfolk City Council and South Norfolk Council, Keep it Clear has helped make recycling of used cooking oil easier for domestic householders.

Initiatives have included establishing a network of recycling bank sites to collect used cooking oil instead of it being poured down sinks and drains.

The trial scheme is now being operated by Thetford-based Living Fuels, a company which recovers used cooking oil and turns it into environmentally friendly bioliquid. This is used to generate carbon neutral electricity for UK homes and businesses.
